At WELLCOM’s 2018 Excellence in Worksite Wellness Awards Luncheon, Nelnet was recognized for building a workplace culture that emphasizes wellness.
Joining the ranks of organizations like Creighton University and CEDARS Youth Services, Nelnet was one of 38 companies received the Nebraska Governor’s Wellness Award, a certification that will remain valid for at least the next three years. Additionally, Nelnet was awarded the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Silver Workplace Health Solutions Award for building a culture of wellness throughout the company.
“We’re incredibly proud to receive awards as prestigious as these,” said Rick Rautenberg, senior coordinator of Nelnet’s wellness program. “Nelnet’s associates are our best asset, so investing in their health and well-being is a top priority.”
One of Nelnet’s core values is “creating an awesome work environment.” Part of that means taking care of associates — at work and at home.
Nelnet’s health perks allow associates to take care of themselves by participating in regular wellness challenges that encourage good health practices like staying hydrated and exercising regularly. When associates complete these challenges, they’re rewarded with anything from free Nelnet gear to funds deposited in their Health Savings Account (HSA).
In addition to those challenges, perks like free associate-only health premiums, gym reimbursements, and generous earned time off allow associates to spend time on themselves and their health.
This year, our “Share the Health” campaign highlighted associates who have experience in a variety of wellness topics from eating right to being charitable. Visit our Vimeo page to watch the videos and meet all 12 participants.
