As you consider applying at our company, we want you to have insight into our hiring process. While that process may vary, depending on the position for which you’re applying, the outline below is meant to provide a better understanding of what you can expect after you apply to join our team.

Application

Like what you see? Create an account and apply online. While a resume isn’t required, you’ll need to provide a brief description of your past and current work experience, educational background, and unique skills. This information helps us learn what we need to know about you as we evaluate candidates. Typically, we find candidates who share resumes and relevant work experience move forward at a quicker pace.

Step Two

Application Review

Now that you’ve provided your resume or complete work information, our recruiters will review your application carefully. If it meets the qualifications for the position that you’ve applied for, one of our recruiters will call or email you to set up a phone interview.

Step Three

Interview

Our interviews are conducted virtually and typically last 30 to 60 minutes. We’ll share in-depth information about the role you’ve applied for, and we encourage you to ask questions as well.

  • Each qualified candidate will have an initial phone screen.
  • After the initial phone screen, candidates who continue with the process may have additional interviews with hiring managers or others – as well as skills tests, depending on the type of position.

Step Four

Offer & Welcome

A hiring decision will be made after the interview process is complete. If you’re offered a position, you’ll receive a verbal offer by phone from the recruiter. After you accept the verbal offer, you’ll receive an official offer letter through our Workday system, which you’ll accept in your candidate profile.

Step Five

Onboarding

Congratulations on accepting your offer! You’ll now begin the pre-employment and onboarding process. All offers of employment at Nelnet are contingent upon the successful passing of a background check and drug screen through our third-party vendor. You’ll also receive informational emails and onboarding tasks to complete. Our recruiting coordinators are here to help you have a successful onboarding experience, too.
