Nelnet has been named the top employer for Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in the 2020 Healthiest Employer awards. In Texas, Nelnet was recognized as one of the Top 15 Healthiest Employers. The awards program, powered by Springbuk, was created to honor people-first organizations that prioritize the well-being of their employee population. Companies were recognized because of their commitment to workplace wellness and exceptional health and benefits offerings.
Award applicants were evaluated across six key categories: Culture and Leadership, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Communication and Marketing, Programming and Interventions, and Reporting and Analytics. Completed assessments were ranked with the proprietary Healthiest Employers® Index, a 1-100 rubric for wellness programming.
Additionally, Nelnet placed No. 93 in the Top 100 Healthiest Employers in the country in 2020.
Looking Out for Our Associates
This year brought unprecedented challenges and tested Nelnet’s ability to deliver on our second corporate value: Creating an awesome work environment. The recognition provided by these awards reinforces what associates know: Nelnet committed to keeping associates safe, well, and connected because that was crucial to providing an awesome work environment.
Nelnet’s ability to get more than 6,500 associates working safely from home in a matter of days during the onset of the pandemic was just the start. Our wellness program rapidly implemented a variety of at-home wellness solutions that have been widely used. We increased awareness of existing programs and support we offer for mental and emotional issues for associates and their families. We hosted webinars to help associates manage change and created new opportunities for them to voice concerns or to take action in response to the many changes happening in our world in 2020.
