Nelnet Marketing and Communications Professionals Gather at Thrive Conference

Creating an awesome work environment Giving back to the communities in which we live and work By Susie McCormick September 25, 2024

Coming together to learn, network, give back—and thrive.

Recently, over 90 of Nelnet’s marketing and communications professionals from across the U.S. came together for Thrive, the company’s marketing and communications conference. The two-day event aimed to support Nelnet’s core values by fostering a positive work environment and exploring growth opportunities.

Associates from across the country—from Lincoln to Seattle—had the chance to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

The event featured professional development sessions on various topics, including a keynote presentation by Dr. Valerie Jones, Associate Professor of Advertising and Public Relations at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, discussing how AI will impact our work and lives.

Other topics included:

Giving Back to the Community

As part of the conference, attendees participated in a cleanup project at Cooper Park, a local neighborhood playground and green space. The effort removed 72 bags of litter from the park and surrounding areas, supporting Nelnet’s commitment to giving back to the communities where associates live and work.

Neighborhood resident—and Nelnet Associate Creative Director—Peter Morris shared appreciation from the local community, highlighting how the park is a vital space for many.

I've lived near this park for 20 years and have seen how important it is to the community. Folks from all walks of life use this park for a wide range of activities including Easter egg hunts, art festivals, family reunions, baseball games, wedding receptions, cookouts, and graduations. Thank you for doing something good for a neighborhood that is often overlooked. I know for a fact it was appreciated.
